Sulphur dioxide (SO₂) is a key process gas in numerous industrial sectors – particularly in metal processing, the glass industry and food production. LT GASETECHNIK develops customized SO₂ gas mixing systems that meet the highest standards of safety, precision and reliability.
These systems not only ensure precise gas dosing and mixing, but also integrate extensive safety mechanisms – such as gas warning sensors, emergency stop functions, flushing processes and protected installation rooms – to minimize risks when handling the toxic gas.
Technology in detail
LT GASETECHNIK offers two proven system types:

Flow-regulated systems with mass flow controllers for a consistent gas supply

Pressure-regulated systems for constant supply at process-critical pressure levels
Both variants can be individually combined and automated – including visualization and control via HMI.

Application examples

Metal processing (magnesium die casting): SO₂ replaces the extremely climate-damaging SF₆ (GWP 23,500) and provides a safe protective atmosphere for the magnesium melt (GWP 0).

Food industry: As a preservative, SO₂ protects products such as wine from oxidation.

Glass industry: In flat glass production, SO₂ is used in precisely dosed quantities to supply annealing lehrs – such as in projects for Saint-Gobain or Gomelglass with a capacity of up to 1000 l/h.
